Organized by: LSC and NSS Unit, Soundarya College of Law On 12th June 2024, the LSC & NSS unit of Soundarya College of Law organized an awareness and pledge taking program to commemorate the World Day Against Child Labour. This event aimed to raise awareness about the plight of child laborers and to reinforce the commitment of the students and faculty to combat this social evil.
Inauguration: The program commenced at 1:30 PM with the Invocation song by Ms. Srinidhi, NSS volunteer.
Welcome Address: Mr. Girisha K delivered the welcome address, emphasizing the significance of World Day Against Child Labour and the role of educational institutions in eradicating child labor. Special Lecture: A special lecture was delivered by Mr. Hanumanthe Gowda N A, Coordinator, LSC on the various forms of child labor, its impact on children’s health and education, and the legal frameworks in place to combat it. His thoughts and insights inspired the audiences to actively participate in the fight against child labor.
Documentary Screening: A short documentary highlighting real-life stories of children rescued from child labour was screened. The documentary was both poignant and informative, providing a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by child laborers.
Pledge Taking Ceremony: The highlight of the program was the pledge-taking ceremony led by Dr. B P Mahesha, Principal of SCL. The students and faculty took a solemn pledge to uphold the rights of children and to work towards a society free of child labour. The pledge reiterated the commitment of the Soundarya College community to contribute to the cause through awareness, advocacy and action.
Vote of Thanks: The program concluded with vote of thanks by Ms. Shreeya U, NSS Student Coordinator. She expressed gratitude to the speaker, faculty members and students for their active participation and support
